Good News!

I'd love to report The Hunt is completely written and ready to launch... but alas, no, that is not my good news today. I had a great doctor visit yesterday with my uber Lyme specialist and I wanted to share.

Physically, I've been feeling great the last two months. Sure, I get set backs with muscle problems and seasonal headaches from the storm fronts... but overall, I've felt better than I have in years.

My clinical exam really surprised the doctor -- she said my joints were good, no swelling, my skin looked good (I used to turn red when she touched my skin and my finger tips were the wrong color? umm... okay). And some other stuff I have now promptly forgotten... but she did say my physical appearance doesn't match my most recent test results. Which apparently say I'm sicker than I feel -- but getting better.

I have put one auto-immune disease into remission already. The new one diagnosed in January called Sjögren's. Yay! One down and two more to go!

My adrenal stress test results came back revealing why I have trouble sleeping. Turns out my body cycle is off and I'm releasing/producing lots of cortisol and other stuff that peaks at midnight. If any of you have suffered from sleep issues -- either going to sleep or waking up, then I recommend you do the weird salvia spit test for a day.

I took my first dose of recommended supplements to balance out my adrenal gland function last night. I fell asleep faster and woke up before the alarm. And for any of you that like to self-medicate without getting a test done, here is what's working for me:

From Interplexus, Inc - Seriphos - Phosphorylated Serine Adaptogen and Adrenal Support. Dosage: 2 @ bedtime
From Biotics Research Corp - Cytozyme-AD  (an neonatal bovine adrenal complex . Am not thinking too hard on taking that one, just doing it) Dosage: 2 @ breakfast
From Complimentary Prescriptions - Cortisol Control. Dosage: start with 1 at dinner and if I don't fall asleep well to try two, then three. But if I have trouble getting up in the morning then to back off the dose.

The doctor went on to report that I'm doing much better than she anticipated and will probably not need to get another round of IV antibiotics done. Essentially, if we can balance my immune system naturally and get it strong again, I can beat the rest of the Lyme in my body on my own -- like a normal person, yay!!

Other tests showed I have a chronic H. Pylori infection that hasn't been beaten by five months of antibiotics. I may also have a parasite causing the Eosinophilic problems in my throat... but, that's treatable when they determine what parasite it is. *Note to self, never drink water from a lake, pond, steam, or foreign country ever again.

Still more tests revealed my first rounds of chelation have produced no excessive heavy metals in my body -- and for anyone treating a disease that has a biofilm, like Lyme, these heavy metals are bad. They can form a protective shield around the bacteria, not allowing antibiotics, or your immune system, in to kill it. The test results could mean I'm not extruding any heavy metals yet, and we need to do a few more months of chelation. Or I could be one of the lucky few she's seen in her practice who do not have a lot of heavy metals in their body.

Would be nice if I turned out to be that lucky. I'm not counting on it.

Am I all better? No. Will I perhaps have a set back with flare ups? Don't know.

But facing a summer without a port in my chest or a picc line in my arm is a good thing. Surprising your doctor with how well you're feeling (and looking) when they didn't expect it feels amazing. I'm on the right path. Sure, it may not happen overnight, may take 6 to 9 more months... but that's way better than a lot of other sick people in the world and I'm grateful there appears to be an end in sight.

I feel good. My body doesn't ache. My knees aren't giving out on me. I've been able to walk more and longer. My hands are no longer numb. My raging temper has been curbed. My brain fog is less and my memory... well, okay. My short term memory still sucks but I'm doing better.

Oh - and discovered a "no detectable trace sulfites" organic red table wine that I enjoy when mixed with seltzer (I was never a red wine fan, so that is huge for me!).

Overall, life is good. I feel like a weight has been lifted.

Now, I can get my ass in gear with writing. I will make my deadline, dammit!!

Wah-pesh! Shut up and WRITE!!! ;-)

Cheers,
C.J.

Good for you, C.J. You might have to drag that trailer out more often. The trip seems to have done wonders.

Thanks, Greg! It was the best time I've had camping in years. Virtually pain free and I was able to keep up with everyone. I've been weak for so damn long I almost forgot what it was like to feel good.

Think I'll be doing some planting this afternoon with my kids in the front yard. Life is good!

Great news, C.J. May the good news keep coming! I read my wife the part about your sleep issues. Doubtful that they are the same; however, one never knows, and it's so frustrating that she sleeps so poorly.

See? Not Talkin' Out My Ass!

About this blog:

"Who the heck is this C.J. chick?"

Sure, you may not have heard of me and that's okay. I may not have heard of you either ;-) But ask yourself this one simple question -- What were you doing in January 2009 and had you ever written one word of fiction?

I can tell you where I was and what I was doing. I spent days in doctor's offices and sitting at home the rest of the time, wondering what I was going to do with my time now that my property management and Realtor business was on hold for the foreseeable future.

That's right, I never wrote a fictional piece before and I never thought I could be a writer. My background is Art, Chemistry and Business… not English, Journalism, or Creative Writing.

Now, I'm an award-winning bestselling author of contemporary fantasy. In under three years. And I have 10,000 followers on facebook. Do you? 'Cause if you do then you probably don't need my help. ;-)

Side Note: I use an editor for all my books (several in fact), but not on my blog posts. So if you see errors, try to be nice and overlook them.

Please comment on the posts you find helpful -- I look forward to getting to know you!
